Accessibility statement
We are committed to making our web content and services available to the widest possible audience and are actively working to increase the accessibility and usability of our website. A first step in doing this is by meeting specific accessibility standards and guidelines (as detailed below).
More generally, the BBC website provides an excellent range of accessibility and usability advice. This site helps people, whatever their ability, to make the most of the internet and also to set up a computer to make it easier to use. Visit www.bbc.co.uk/accessibility.
Standards
This site has been built to conform to level Double A of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) - using code compliant with W3C standards for XHTML and CSS to ensure the site displays in all supported browsers (see our browser policy). Using standards compliant code means that this website should also be displayed correctly in later versions of the supported browsers.
Readability
We have tried to use 'plain english' as much as possible on this site but some content is of a technical and/or legal nature and has to be written as such. We have also made sure that the design of this website is not an obstacle to its usability and readability.
Access Keys
Access keys are a navigation device enabling you to get around the main web site using your keyboard. They can be used to jump to different sections of content across the main site.
More in depth information about access keys can be found at W3C Accessibility Guidelines.

Exceptions
This commitment applies only to the Land Registry websites and not to websites that are linked from our pages.
Whilst we work hard to conform to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility, it is not always possible to do so.
The following areas of our site may present barriers to use for some people.
Aerial Land Locator
Due to its use of maps Aerial Land Locator requires the use of JavaScript and CSS to make them fully compliant with WCAG Double A.
This website uses Portable Document Files (PDF). Some of the PDFs created using Land Registry’s eBusiness applications and some older documents have not yet been made fully accessible.
JavaScript
Javascript is used throughout the site to assist with navigation, gather usage statistics and for various style purposes. Care has been taken to ensure that the site still functions completely for people who choose to not enable JavaScript in their web browser.
Flash
Training modules on this site are available in Adobe’s Flash format. Flash does present some problems for some people.
